It has been very wet this week and with more rain forecast between now and Sunday the creeks on the course are very high and are potentially dangerous to cross. We also have a high risk of not being able to access most of the course to put out water drops and do the safety patrols. The photo shows Spring Creek with a low flow.
We have permission to run the events on November 7-8 - next weekend.
We understand that not everyone will be able to come next weekend. If that is the case we will refund your entry. Please contact Julie.
Apologies that you will miss out this weekend, but fingers crossed for fine weather next weekend.
The ACT Rogaining Champs (24 hr) and 8 hr events are on in Yanununbeyan National Park and State Conservation Area. This is an area of unburnt open forest over a range of hills between Queanbeyan and Captains Flat south-east of Canberra. The bush looks great after the rain and there are lots of happy, noisy frogs in the watercourses. The setters have been finding lots of spring flowers and hopefully some will still be around by the end of the month.
Armchair setter Ron Simpson - from Norway - has set a good course and passed this over to David Baldwin and Julie Quinn to ensure the flags are out and the Hash House organised for you. To ensure a covid-safe event there will be a few small changes around the Hash House and we will be reminding you about social distancing. The 8 hour event will start at 1PM and run to 9PM, while the 24 hour will be noon till noon as usual. Hartley are allowed to put on a feed for you but we won't be having presentations. Entries are open.
The 2024 “Spring, Creek, Trail” Spring Rogaine will be held in the nearby Yanununbeyan Conservation Area and Yanununbeyan National Park on Saturday 19 October, commencing at 11:00am. Hash House is located at “Murdering Sheds Flat”, a lot of private land on Woolcara Lane that is much less threatening than its name (and is in fact really quite nice).
As usual, we will be running two events, a 6 hour and a 12 hour. The area is great unburnt rogaine country and offers the occasional surprise sweeping view of the surrounding farmland or back towards Canberra.
Entries are now open. $50 full entry and $40 concession. Solo entries are not permitted.
Camping is available overnight at the Hash House. Catering will be provided by Carwoola RFS at the end of both events. There will be no provided breakfast, so bring your own food if you are planning on staying overnight. All participants must bring their own plates, bowls, and cutlery.
We sadly announce the "Back to the Bay" rogaine is cancelled.
Just when we were all starting to get excited about a trip to the coast, public health advice in NSW around community sport just issued states "Cease activities that result in the mixing of participants and staff from different regions" for at least the next 6 weeks.
We hope to be able to reschedule this event some time in the future.
